Colorado NAHRO is one of six states that make up the Mountain Plains Regional Council of NAHRO (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming). Each year, Mountain Plains NAHRO prepares a Legislative Agenda that members use to highlight their program priorities and budget concerns for the coming year. Members attending the annual NAHRO Legislative Conference in Washington DC use the Agenda to guide discussions with Congressional Representatives that they visit.
Focusing on What Matters In recent years, NAHRO has striven to change the dialogue surrounding housing and community development programs. We aim to foster a public policy conversation emphasizing program outcomes instead of prescriptive processes and burdensome administrative procedures that divert scarce resources away from the core mission. Our approach unleashes local creativity to develop efficient and tailored strategies to meet community needs without compromising responsible government oversight. NAHRO will pursue the following core strategies: responsible funding; regulatory relief; increased flexibility; small housing authority reform proposal; and barriers to flexibility.
We welcome the opportunity to engage all interested parties in the effort to strengthen the federal commitment to addressing our nation’s most urgent housing and community development needs.
